Finals and Other News

Wow, its been a while since I posted anything. Sorry about that...

So anyway, two finals down, two to go! Luckily one of my English finals was due weeks ago so I don't have to worry about it now. And I finished my Journalism final and turned it in on Monday.

Now all that's left is another English paper and a Greek final on Friday (that one is just not going to go well no matter what but its ok because I don't need the class).

I should probably be working on those right now but instead I'm informing you that I need to be working on them... 0.o...

I have one book to report on:

The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks

I'm continuing with my Sparks fetish and this was a good one to end the semester with. There was some suspense, of course a good love story and dead people! I've always thought that a book is not really all that good if there are no dead people. That probably comes from my love of Mary Higgins Clark where theres always at least one dead person if not several. Anyway, good book with a nice vengeful ending that made me smile.

In other news:
I was watching a B20 video when John mentioned the fact that NBC is bringing back American Gladiators. This is probably due to the writers strike and lack of new material but seriously people, American Gladiators? Really? Are you serious? Please tell me you're kidding! You're not? Oh man, thats just wrong...

In other, other news:
I'm coming home in on Monday!!!!!!! That's only 5 days from now... AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ya, I'm pretty excited. I still have finals to finish, presents to buy and wrap, a room (and desk) to clean, laundry to do and a suitcase to pack. Should prove to be fun.

In more other news:
Thanks to everyone who viewed my video and sent it to all their friends! Please remember if you have a YouTube account to rate, favorite and subscribe here. Thanks again!

Let it Snow Baby... Let it Reindeer

The new Christmas album from Relient K which I was able to pre-order (thanks to MySpace) and received in the mail on Friday. It's awesome. It has a few songs from their first Christmas Album, Deck the Halls Bruise Your Hand, that are always awesome. My favorite still is and will always be I Celebrate the Day. Such a good, modern Christmas song. And of course there are their pop-rock versions of the classics like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Silent Night. An a capella (which Relient K does so well) version of Auld Lang Syne with a special Christmas greeting from the band. And some awesome originals like Santa Claus is Thumbing to Town.

I've listened to the CD a few times through and am still enjoying it. Makes me feel all Christmasy inside!

Books, again...

I love audio books...

The Notebook by Nichols Sparks

I did see the movie a few years ago at my lovely Sasha's house and cried like a baby. At the time my grandfather was living with Alzheimer's making the movie hit home. The book was soooooo much better than the movie. There are so many differences and I definitely prefer the book. As always with Sparks the story was heart wrenching and the ending didn't help. The conclusions are never what I would expect and they just plain suck in one way yet are good enough to keep me content. Oy...

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

Oh my bob! This was the worst yet best ending of all! I cried and I wasn't driving I probably would have cried like a freakin' baby... Oh man, good times. I can't say anything else without giving it away so just read it. Ya, just read it...

(So I'm on a Nicholas Sparks kick it seems. Right now I'm listening to The Wedding, a sequel of sorts to The Notebook. What can I say, I'm a romantic, sometimes...)

Tears of the Giraffe by Alexander McCall Smith

I think this was actually better than the first. Tears of the Giraffe is a sequel to The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency which I just read (and posted about) about a week or so ago. There was more content and story in this second book, probably because all of the background, etc. was given in the first book so there was more room for detectiv-ing. There also seemed to be more of a moral and some more emotion which I enjoyed. Now I definitely want to go to Africa.

More books are on their way!

Books, Books, Books! On tape...

Because I have an hour long drive to school and then another hour long drive on the way home, I decided to start listening to audio books during the drive.

Luckily, Heritage Library in Providence Forge, about fifteen minutes from Grandmama's and on my way to school, has a very good selection of audio books. I was seriously impressed. They have more audio books in this little library then they do in Escondido in our rather large library.

So I took advantage of it and have been through three books and am on my fourth since last Monday.

I started with A Mt. Vernon Love Story by Mary Higgins Clark

Mary Higgins Clark has done it again! This was different from the murder mysteries, obviously. A very good love story that wasn't completely mushy.

Then The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom

I cried. This book was excellent. I have also read For One More Day by Mitch Albom and it was good. Five People was amazing.

Next was The Widow of the South by Robert Hicks

At first, I was freaked out. The story was a little strange. As it on, though, I fell in love. Honestly, I don't think I would have liked this book or even finished it if I hadn't been listening to it. The voices of the characters, especially Zachariah Cashwell, made the story more real and interesting. And the fact that it was based on a true story helped too.
